The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on January 20, 2025, issued the Draft Karnataka Electricity Grid Code (KEGC), 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•The code outlines various chapters detailing the In-STS grid's management, planning, and operation.
•Chapter 1 defines the scope and application of the regulations. Chapters 2 to 4 cover organizations' roles, resource planning, and connection requirements. Chapter 5 focuses on technical criteria for commission and commercial operation. Chapters 6 and 7 address operational guidelines for grid stability, generation balance, scheduling, and dispatch procedures.
•The code specifies safeguarding the In-STS grid and its systems. Chapter 8 focuses on protection protocols and fault safeguards. Chapter 9 addresses cyber security measures, including audits and communication system maintenance. Chapter 10 outlines monitoring compliance and addressing violations. Chapter 11 covers miscellaneous provisions like amendments, dispute resolution, and other operational aspects.
•These regulations shall supersede the Karnataka Electricity Grid Code, 2015.
The Stakeholders and interested persons may file their comments/views/suggestions/objections, if any on or before February 21, 2025.
